The Perilous Flight

                                 Perilous Flight

It was a Friday morning, Captain Bernard of the Gimpaz Airways 310 was to fly the aircraft from Lagos to Kaduna. The flying plan was submitted to the tower at the airport. The engines had been tested and all were set. The climate condition had been looked into and it was safe for flight. The passengers and the captain together with the hostesses were already on board waiting for the tower to give them the go ahead to fly the aircraft. Captain Bernard who had been flying aircraft for years had earlier made up his mind not to follow the tower's directives on flying the aircraft. So when the tower announced that the captain could now fly the aircraft, captain Bernard then began his planned actions.

One amazing thing about an ircraft is that, though the captain is the one in charge of flying the aircraft, the tower is the all powerful force behind its successful flying because only the tower knows the height and depth at which an aircraft is flying, even though the captain does have the knowledge. Another thing is that the captain can't really see if there are other aircrafts or other objects on its way that could be dangerous for the aircraft. Now that Captain Bernard had made up his mind not to follow the tower's directives, having the knowledge that only the tower can help them fly successfully, what could be the lot of the captain and all the passengers on board?.

The tower announced that they could now take off and so captain Bernard did. Upon rising up to the skies, he started to shun off the tower's directives and began to fly on his own discretion. Captain Bernard could not see if there was any other aircrafts or objects that could be dangerous for him, and so continued like that and this occurred for few minutes. After 30 minutes, the tower communicated to the captain that he should go lower in his flight speed and heights in order to escape an object that he could run into and cause calamity. But amazingly captain Bernard ignored this, even the other junior captain advised him to yield to the tower's directive, but he refused. Few minutes later the aircraft ran into an elementary object and there was a catastrophe. The aircraft finally crashed and unfortunately it led to the death of captain Bernard and other passengers.

Listen, every human is on a flight. We're all flying the aircraft of our lives heading towards our destination in life. We're all on a journey , flying, sailing and driving by every principles and directives at our disposal for a successful journey. But it is so amazing that this journey can end well or the other way round, depending on the directives which we journey with.

Let's briefly compare the above scenario with our lives and journey therein.

* Every human is flying an aircraft, driving a vehicle, and sailing a ship at one time or the other, all leading us to a particular destination.

If you are student, you are on a journey, whether using aircraft, ship or vehicle, if you are a professional in one field or the other, you are also on a journey. There could be a stop over but definitely the journey still continues until you drop dead. Even the dead have his own journey to start afresh.

* Your life is the aircraft, vehicle or ship.

* It is essential that we file our flight plan, driving plan and sailing plan with the authorized and constituted authority that could be responsible for our successful journey.

The authority here means the tower, that's God, parents and higher authorities that could help navigate your life successfully.

Flight plan here means how and where you intend to end the flight.

* You can't take off on the journey of life without knowing your destination.

The tower will never permit an aircraft to fly without knowing its destination. So also God, parents and higher authorities of your life would never permit you to take off without knowing or having a destination in view.

* The power of the tower ( higher authority) can't be underestimated. Why ?

- Because only the tower can see everything on the path of aircraft. The tower knows where you are, your present state and your possible outcome.
- The tower is the watcher and supervisor of your flight.

- God is all knowing ( He is the alpha, omega, omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscience ).
- Your parents and others who are higher than you, are more experienced than you.

* Your discretion is not expected to override that of the tower, why ?

- Submission to the control of the tower grants you protection from harmful occurrences and assures safe landing.

- Your discretion is never enough for successful journey. Discretion is not a navigator on this journey of life but directives from an experienced and all knowing personality.

- You have to depend on the tower for movement and directions because you could run into harmful object, friends and so on and then crash.
- Only the tower can actually tell the state of your flight whether you are still able to continue or not ( in every issues of life).

* In flying the aircraft, driving the vehicle or sailing the ship of your life:

- No matter the condition, still depend on the tower for directives.

- Never choose to practice selective obedience.

What then could make your flight perilous?

Disobedience to directives

Arrogance

Pride

Experiences

Companions

Nonchalant attitude

Summarily, to enabe your own flight, drive or sail escape the perils of life;

Be mindful of God as the tower

Be ever ready to fly, drive or sail according to the directives of God.
